Product Overview

Handtevy is a clinical intelligence platform used by EMS agencies and hospitals to deliver precision medication dosing, real-time protocols, and clinical decision support at the point of care. Since 2010, Handtevy has been trusted by more than 200,000 clinicians across 3,000+ agencies in all 50 states. The platform combines weight-based dosing, equipment sizing, CPR assistance, and order sets into a single system designed for neonates, pediatrics, and adults.

Yes. Handtevy Mobile supports the full age spectrum, from neonates through adults. Clinicians use it for weight-based medication dosing, equipment sizing, CPR timers, protocol sets, and point-of-care checklists for every patient type.

Yes. After the initial download, core functionality works fully offline — dosing, protocols, equipment sizing, and CPR Assist™ are all available without a connection. A WiFi or cellular connection is only required to transmit records to your ePCR for secure data transfer.

Handtevy combines four capabilities that are typically fragmented across separate tools: weight-based precision dosing, real-time protocol and order set management, clinician competency tracking, and quality improvement reporting. Administrators manage pharmacology, protocols, and checklists across an entire organization from one dashboard, with instant push updates to every connected device. The platform pairs software with expert clinical guidance from pediatric physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and paramedics.

No. Handtevy Mobile is an enterprise application licensed to EMS agencies and hospitals, not individual clinicians. Once your organization provisions access, you can use the app on any personal device — each account is tailored to your organization’s specific formularies and protocols.

Handtevy Mobile is available on iOS, Android, and Windows. It runs on phones, tablets, workstations, and rugged devices like Toughbooks — any device your crew carries. Enterprise Single Sign-On (SSO) is supported, so clinicians don’t need additional passwords.

Broselow Alternative

Yes. Handtevy is implemented across more than 3,000 hospitals and EMS agencies as a complete Broselow tape replacement. It delivers faster, more consistent dosing guidance for neonates, pediatrics, and adults through a fully digital system designed for real-world emergencies, with no printed materials to maintain or replace.

Broselow tape is a static, printed pediatric-only reference tool limited to a fixed set of medications. Handtevy is a fully digital system that supports neonates, pediatrics, and adults, and can be customized to match your exact formulary, concentrations, and protocols. Because Handtevy is software-based, updates deploy instantly across your entire team without printing, distributing, or replacing outdated materials.

Yes. Handtevy is used nationwide by EMS agencies and hospital systems as a Broselow alternative. It supports neonates, pediatrics, and adults in one system, eliminates reliance on printed reference materials, and allows instant protocol and formulary updates without retraining or redistributing physical tools.

Remove the recalled 2025 Edition Broselow Tape from service immediately and follow official FDA recall guidance. The FDA classified this as a Class 1 recall, the highest severity level. Many agencies use this as a natural moment to transition to Handtevy, a fully digital system that requires no physical replacement cycle.

Both. Handtevy is a hybrid system that supports age-based and length-based weight estimation. Published studies have shown age-based estimation is statistically equivalent to length-based methods. Handtevy recommends an age-first approach so providers can begin treatment planning prior to patient contact, with length-based estimation used for patients of unusual stature or chronic illness.

Yes. Handtevy is compliant with nationally accepted advanced life support recommendations, including the guideline that recommends use of a length-based tape. Our clinical team of EMS and pediatric emergency medicine experts helps agencies and hospitals maintain compliance with the latest evidence-based recommendations.

Evidence & Outcomes

A landmark study published in Prehospital Emergency Care and led by Dr. Maia Dorsett and colleagues at the University of Rochester Medical Center documented 97% correct first-dose pediatric medication administration across the Monroe-Livingston Regional EMS System after implementing Handtevy. This is the highest dosing accuracy rate ever reported in peer-reviewed emergency care literature. Prior to Handtevy adoption, correct dosing in the same system was 79%, with midazolam correctly dosed only 65% of the time.

Yes. A 2019 study by Banerjee, Pepe, and colleagues published in Resuscitation examined pediatric out-of-hospital cardiac arrest outcomes in Polk County, Florida following a protocol redesign built around Handtevy. After implementation, pediatric OHCA neurologically intact survival increased from 0% to 23%. Additional agencies report sustained improvements in dosing variability and time to medication administration.

Handtevy is used by more than 3,000 hospitals and EMS agencies across all 50 states, reaching over 200,000 clinicians. Customers range from single-agency fire departments to statewide EMS systems and major hospital networks including Cleveland Clinic, Memorial Hermann, Denver Health, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Polk County Fire Rescue, PHI Air Medical, and the National Park Service.

Yes. Multiple peer-reviewed studies have evaluated Handtevy’s impact on clinical outcomes, including publications in Prehospital Emergency Care and Resuscitation. Studies from Denver Health, Monroe-Livingston Regional EMS, Polk County Fire Rescue, and Children’s Minnesota have examined dosing accuracy, time to medication administration, analgesia rates, and survival outcomes.

Security & Compliance

Handtevy Mobile is specifically designed to never store or process Protected Health Information (PHI). Because no PHI touches the platform, Handtevy doesn’t introduce HIPAA exposure for your organization. The app provides robust clinical features while keeping patient data entirely out of its systems.

Data exchanged between Handtevy Mobile and Handtevy Cloud Services is transmitted using TLS 1.2. Transmitted data is encrypted with a 2048-bit RSA key using the SHA256withRSA algorithm. Data stored in Handtevy Cloud Services is encrypted at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption.

Handtevy maintains enterprise-grade security standards including TLS 1.2 transport encryption, RSA 2048-bit and AES-256 encryption, and a zero-PHI architecture that eliminates HIPAA-covered data from the platform entirely. Contact our team for detailed security documentation, SOC 2 status, and enterprise compliance materials.

Administrator Tools

The Handtevy Administrator Portal gives administrators full control over app users. You can add new users, archive inactive accounts, and keep team rosters accurate from a single dashboard.

The Feature Hub is the centralized control panel inside the Handtevy Administrator Portal for platform customization. Administrators can enable or disable platform features with a single toggle, giving each organization full control over exactly which capabilities clinicians see at the point of care.

To enable a feature: (1) navigate to the Feature Hub from your dashboard, (2) browse the list of available features, (3) select the feature you want to enable, and (4) click the Enable toggle. Once active, the feature appears under Active Features.

Click the “Forgot Password” link at the bottom right of the sign-in window. Follow the instructions and a temporary password will be sent to your registered email address. Use the temporary password to log in and reset your credentials.

Send an email with the new administrator’s details (name, title, email, and phone number) to [email protected]. Our team will verify the request and arrange setup in your system.

For security, installation credentials can only be shared with written approval from your organization’s Handtevy Administrator. Contact [email protected] and we’ll coordinate with your administrator to restore access quickly.

Handtevy Mobile is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Microsoft Store. Once downloaded, you’ll need a username and password from your organization’s Handtevy Administrator to activate the app. The app runs on Toughbooks, tablets, and personal devices.

Customization

Yes. Organizations can update medications, protocols, dosing parameters, and clinical details at any time through the Handtevy Administrator Portal. Changes push across your entire team instantly, with built-in version control and compliance tracking.

Yes. Every customer works directly with Handtevy’s clinical team — pediatric physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and paramedics — during the customization process. Our team’s primary focus is emergency care, and we build your environment around your formulary, protocols, and clinical priorities.

Customization begins with a questionnaire that captures your organization’s formulary, concentrations, drips, electrical therapy settings, and equipment. Our clinical team then schedules a virtual working session to review and fine-tune every configuration detail. This meticulous process ensures the platform reflects your exact protocols before go-live.

CPR Assist™ is an advanced metronome feature designed to guide frontline clinicians during CPR and defibrillation. It’s available to all Handtevy Mobile users at no additional cost. Your organization’s Handtevy Administrator can enable the feature at any time — contact [email protected] for assistance.

WallComm™ is a real-time communication channel between EMS leadership and hospital partners when a crew is delayed on the wall. It provides GPS-verified timestamps, live messaging, and event analytics to reduce delays, get crews back in service faster, and move patients into care more efficiently.
